Digital Media (DIGI) Elective Courses

The Digital Media (DIGI) courses at Malaspina University-College have full university credit and provide the complete set of skills for media technology professionals and students looking to add digital media skills to their main field of study. Technical skills taught include: Web authoring (XHMTL & CSS); digital video production (Final Cut Pro); animation (MAYA); interactive motion media (Flash); Web application development (PHP, JSP & Ruby); game design and interface design.

Course Requirements

There are no specific requirements for students wishing to take digital media courses beyond the stated prerequisites. While it can help to have computer skills, as long as you can send an email and create a Word document, you can succeed in Digital Media.

Note: DIGI 110: Introduction to Digital Media is a prerequisite for all second year DIGI courses. However, students with a high degree of digital media experience may have this requirement waved. Please contact the Digital Media Coordinator for more information.

Technology Requirements

Applicants should have some experience working with computers.

Digital Media courses are all taught on the Mac platform. DIGI maintains a Mac lab, however, it is noted that students wishing to take a number of Digital Media courses will benefit from the purchase of their own Mac laptop to support richer learning and more complex, large-scale production work.
